Every case type in your case management system (CMS) needs to be matched, or "mapped," to a Quilia case type. The mapping tells Quilia which documents, questions and settings a client on that kind of case gets.
When your firm adds a new case type in your CMS and nobody has mapped it in Quilia yet, its cases have nowhere to go. The Unmapped Case Types switch decides what happens to them.
With the switch off
Cases with an unmapped type are not imported. They wait until the type is mapped.
On your CMS integration page, the Case Types table flags each waiting type with a note like 3 new cases missing out on Quilia. As soon as you map that type, Quilia restarts the import for the cases that were waiting.
With the switch on
Cases with an unmapped type are imported right away and given the Default case type. Default is a fallback with basic settings, so the client can start using Quilia while you decide on the right case type.
To turn it on:
- Go to Settings → Features.
- Turn on Unmapped Case Types.
- Select Save at the bottom of the page.
The switch only shows when your firm has a CMS connected, and only admins can change it.
When you save with the switch on, every CMS case type that is not mapped yet is mapped to Default, and any new case type that shows up in your CMS later is mapped to Default automatically. If you turn the switch off again, the types that were mapped to Default go back to being unmapped.
Adjusting the Default case type
Default is listed with your other case types under Settings → Case Types. You can open it and change it the same way as any other case type. See Case Type Settings.
Mapping the case type properly
Default is meant as a stopgap. To give these cases the right case type:
- Go to Settings → Integrations and select Manage next to your CMS.
- Find the Case Types table. It lists each of your CMS's case types next to its Quilia Type.
- Find the CMS case type you want to map. With the switch on, it shows Default as its Quilia Type. With the switch off, it has no Quilia Type and a warning icon. If you don't see it, turn on Show unmapped types above the table.
- Choose the correct Quilia case type for it.
The mapping saves as soon as you choose it. Cases from that CMS case type that come in after this get the new case type.
