Law FirmsPortal TutorialAll CMSSettingsCase Types

Firm administrators can customize how different types of cases behave in Quilia. By configuring case types, you can control what information is collected, which features clients see in their app, and how cases sync with your case management system (CMS).

To manage these settings, open Settings → Case Types.

Case type list

The main Case Types screen displays all the case types available for your firm.

Use the switches next to each case type in the list to enable or disable them. Disabling a case type prevents new cases of that type from being imported or created, but does not affect existing cases.

Select a specific case type to open its settings and configure the tabs below.

General

The General tab controls the core settings and information collection for this case type.

  • Collect Social Security Number: When enabled, clients in this case type will be prompted to securely provide their Social Security Number. Turn this on only if it is necessary for the specific type of case.
  • Use as default for unlinked case types: If you use a CMS integration, cases often import with a case type that is not mapped to Quilia. When this setting is enabled, any unmapped case will automatically be assigned this case type upon import.

App Settings

The App Settings tab controls what clients see when they open the Quilia app.

Feature Visibility

Use the switches in the Feature Visibility section to turn individual screens and features on or off for the client app. This allows you to hide features that are not relevant to their case. For example, if a case type does not involve medical treatment, you can disable the treatment tracking features so clients do not see them.

Documents

The Documents tab allows you to configure which documents clients are asked to upload and which firm documents are shared with them.

For full instructions on setting up required documents and review processes, see Configuring the File Checklist.

Symptoms

The Symptoms tab lets you customize the specific symptoms clients are prompted to log during their recovery.

By default, Quilia provides a standard list of symptoms. You can modify these to track the specific health data most important to this case type. To learn more about setting these up, see our guide on Custom Symptoms.

Integration

(This tab is used when your firm has connected a supported Case Management System).

The Integration tab controls how this Quilia case type connects to your CMS.

  • Project-type mapping: Choose which CMS project or case types should automatically be categorized as this Quilia case type when imported.
  • Field mappings: Configure how specific data fields in Quilia correspond to fields in your CMS.

For a complete guide on syncing data correctly, see our article on CMS Field Mapping.
