How to Delete a Case

Oct 7, 2026•Case Management

Permanently delete a case from the Quilia Portal, and when to close it instead.

Law FirmsPortal TutorialAll CMSPortalCase Management

Deleting a case permanently removes it and everything on it from Quilia: messages, activity, documents and photos. It can't be undone.

Should you close it instead?

If the case is finished, or you just want it off your active list, close it rather than delete it. A closed case keeps its full history, and you can reopen it anytime. See How to Mark a Case as Closed.

Delete a case only when it shouldn't exist at all, like a duplicate or one created by mistake.

Who can delete a case

Only admins on your firm's Quilia account can delete a case. If you don't see the Delete option, ask an admin at your firm.

Delete from the Cases page

  1. Go to Cases.
  2. Click the ⋯ at the end of the case's row.
  3. Click Delete.
  4. Type delete to confirm, then click Delete case.

Delete from the case itself

  1. Open the case.
  2. In the Case Details section, click Edit.
  3. Click Delete case at the bottom of the dialog.
  4. Type delete to confirm, then click Delete case.

You'll be taken back to your Cases list.

Deleting the client too

The confirmation dialog has an option to also delete the client. This removes the client entirely: their login, every one of their cases at your firm, and all of their messages and data. To confirm, type the client's name instead of "delete".

Use this only when the person should not be in Quilia at all.
