How to Keep Notes for Your Family Law Case

Oct 25, 2026•Case Management

Write or say what happens in your divorce or custody case in the Quilia app, so your legal team has a dated record in your own words.

Things happen in a divorce or custody case between meetings with your legal team: a late custody exchange, money moved out of a joint account, something your children said, a letter in the mail. Notes in the Quilia app let you write it down when it happens. Every note is dated, and your legal team sees each one, so months later nobody has to rebuild what happened from memory.

Open Notes

Tap Case at the bottom of the screen, then tap Notes (Write down important details about your file).

Add a Note

Tap Add Entry. You can talk or type.

Tap to talk, or type your note
  • Tap to talk and say what happened, or type it in the box under What should your legal team know?
  • Tap Attach a file to add a photo or document, such as a screenshot of a text message.
  • Tap Save.

What to Write Down

  • Custody exchanges and visits: when they happened, if anyone was late or didn't show, and anything that went wrong.
  • Money: large withdrawals, new debts, changes to accounts, missed support payments.
  • Your children: changes at school, health, or things they said that worry you.
  • Communication with the other parent: agreements you made and anything threatening or upsetting. Attach screenshots when you can.
  • Mail and paperwork: appraisals, statements, court papers.

Write what happened, when and who was there. Stick to the facts, in your own words. Your legal team will decide what matters for your case.

If you are ever in danger, call 911 first, then let your legal team know.
