Best practices for taking photos of your injuries to include in your case file.

Visual documentation of injuries can be compelling evidence. Here's how to photograph injuries properly.

What to Photograph

  • Bruises and swelling

  • Surgical scars
  • Visible deformities
  • Medical devices (braces, casts, crutches)

Photo Guidelines

Lighting

  • Use natural daylight when possible
  • Avoid harsh shadows
  • Make sure injury is clearly visible

Framing

  • Include a reference for size (ruler or coin)
  • Take close-up and wide shots
  • Show the injury from multiple angles

Timing

  • Take photos immediately after injury
  • Continue photographing as healing progresses
  • Capture setbacks or complications

Uploading to Quilia

  1. Open the app
Your attorney can send you messages through the Quilia system
  1. Go to Documents
  2. Tap + and select "Take Photo"
  3. Capture your injury
  4. Add a description with date and location
  5. Upload
