Understand what you can discuss about your case and what to keep confidential.

While your case is ongoing, be careful about what you share with others. Here's what's safe and what to avoid.

Safe to Discuss

  • That you were in an accident (basic fact)
CaseChat conversation in Quilia app
  • That you have an attorney
  • General recovery progress with close family

Avoid Discussing

  • Details of how the accident happened
  • Your injuries in detail
  • Settlement amounts or expectations
  • Anything your attorney told you
  • Opinions about fault

Social Media Warning

Insurance companies monitor social media. Avoid:

Your attorney can send you messages through the Quilia system
  • Posting about your accident
  • Posting photos of activities (even old photos)
  • Checking in at locations
  • Discussing your health
  • Accepting friend requests from strangers

If Someone Asks

If an insurance adjuster, investigator, or stranger asks about your case, say: "I'm represented by an attorney. Please contact them directly."

At Work

You may need to tell your employer about your injury for accommodation purposes, but keep details minimal. You don't need to discuss fault, legal proceedings, or expected outcomes.

With Doctors

Always be completely honest with your medical providers. Medical conversations are confidential and essential for your treatment and case.

When in Doubt

If you're unsure whether to share something, ask your attorney first. It's better to be cautious.
